Singers We Need to Hear on Jackie Hill Perry’s Next Album
Jackie is one of the few rappers who feels like she has the soul of a classic songwriter. Not that I want to be the 1,000,000th person to pin her into that Christian Lauryn Hill label. At the same time tho…
Her last album, Crescendo, was a unique entry to her discography in which she interspersed many of her tracks with beautiful stretches of psalms from different singers of varying genres.
Though I’m a little in the dark about the exact sound of her album will be, I think it would be great to have some vocalists who could add a unique voice to her work. Here are some singers that would be great to hear on her next album.
* I love all my sisters in Christ so I preemptively apologize for any thirst that may come through in the writing.
VICTORY
Victory’s The Glory Hour would be a brilliant companion piece to Jackie’s last album, Crescendo. Thematically, tonally, and aesthetically, they complement each other well. If I were to choose a singer and a rapper to tour or perform together, it would be Victory and Jackie Hill Perry.
Victory, with a voice reminiscent of Adele and Nina Simone, would pair beautifully with the colder, minimal sounds Jackie might include in her upcoming work. Additionally, their collaborative efforts would undoubtedly be profound, as both artists excel at crafting concepts together in a lyrical space.
Victory x Jackie album, anyone?
CLAUDIA ISAKI
Claudia possesses brilliant introspection, which is reflected in her view of God through her songwriting. She has a keen awareness in her lyrics. Jackie has a similar approach, which pairs well when exploring the self-reflective side of these artists. This would create a comprehensive portrayal of self-discovery, repentance, and glorification of… y’know….Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus.
JASMINE MULLEN
Jasmine has had an outstanding tenure as the lead vocalist for The New Respects. The band has explored a diverse range of music, from 60s-style funky rock to their latest anthemic rock tributes to young Black Americans. Their song “Coffee in the Morning” is a sweet, sultry serenade for a special someone, while “Candy” offers a sinister-sounding alternative pop vibe. Jasmine’s flair and vibrant style will surely add a unique touch to whatever she and Ace are currently creating in the studio.
Furthermore, Reach Records albums often feature slower-paced tracks suitable for CCM music. Jasmine and Jackie could create something distinct and exceptional for that audience.
Here’s proof…
