Given that we are now at the end of the Childish Gambino arc with the composite odyssey of Bando Stone and The New World, do you think Donald Glover could pass the torch to the vibrant youngster band, The New Respects?

In 2017, Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover extrapolated all of the soul-fusion from Because the Internet and then created a futurist Funkadelics-inspired outfit of an album called Awaken, My Love! Since then, he’s been off crafting some alternative groovy tunes with Atavista. Here we are now with yet another evolved version of this on his final Gambino album, Band of Stone and the New World.

If you were to hit shuffle on Gambino’s Spotify page you’re going to hear a myriad of different sounds from freshman backpack rap with a Kanye-type aesthetic to existential, avant-garde trap music. What if you had a band that did the funky progressive-soul pop alternative side of that Glover’s discography…and they also loved Jesus?

This group’s eclectic earworm sensibilities make it difficult not to smile ear to ear as you bop your goofy butt down to the campus coffee shop. Goodness… Can you walk like a normal person?

Boy, that was what fun! Now let’s imagine Donald Glover is in a musical where he’s in a rival gang where everyone dances instead of fighting.

Couldn’t you hear this next one playing as they walk down a dark alley?

This next one looks like a phenomenal Target commercial. If you aren’t ready to buy some reasonably priced khakis after watching this, I don’t know what to do with you.
