Christian music for fans of VULTURES 1 by Kanye West
VULTURES 1 sounds like “Freestyle 4,” “I’m in It,” “Hell of a Life,” “Drunk and Hot Girls,” and “All Mine” all rolled into one.
While I find these to be interesting outliers in Ye’s beloved discography, my convictions as a Christian keep me from enjoying them with a clear conscience (even though Drunk and Hot Girls has the nice moral spin by Yasiin Bey at the end of it).
Likewise can be said of VULTURES 1, the most recent collaborative effort between Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign. The production sounds like the score for a sleazy B-horror movie directed by Denis Villeneuve, which sounds awesome. The lyrical content tells a similar story, though it's not a story that I can say I am too excited to hear.
*I mean the man has sex on the brain, medulla, cerebral cortex, etc.*
Anyway, I made a playlist of Christian music that speaks to some of the things represented in VULTURES 1. It also has resulted in a fire sound collage that compliments Ye and Ty’s aforementioned work.
Here are some highlights from the playlist.
Rampage — Mali Music
VULTURES’s cover art should have looked something more like this album than the Jason mask and the thirst trap.
Contemporary artist, Mali Music, returns to his experimental roots as a Christian artist blending different sounds into a brilliant yet peculiar collage that draws you in and has its way with your ears.
Help! — Aklesso
This is a pretty emotionally intense song and the beat switches go crazy!
NOTRE DAME — HEAVENONEARTH
Even the music video kind of has a VULTURES kind of vibe.
OK. That’s it. Enjoy the playlist.
