Albums for the Life of Pablo Fans | Christian Rap
For many, The Life of Pablo is Kanye’s premiere album. The album’s foray into the future with its Blade Runner-esque gospel vibes to its avant-garde and deconstructive approach to commercialized radio rap, make it a contender for his best work.
TLOP reminds me of a few Christian rap records and songs that emulate a similar aesthetic Here are a few Christian rap records you might enjoy if you liked Life of Pablo.
1. Swoope — Sonshine
On The Life of Pablo, Kanye returned to his roots infusing gospel music into a futuristic sound palette. Swoope, who spearheads the production on Sonshine, does the same by infusing good old-fashioned black gospel music into a modern that includes synth-heavy Atlanta-trap, boom-bap, and jazz raps.
2. Tragic Hero x Weathrman — GodSpeed: Chapter 1
This beloved entry, which has yet to see its sequel, is a brief album with a tight motif of metaphors and double entender centered around driving. Weathrman heads production, by concocting instrumentals that could be spiritual siblings to the Daft Punk TRON soundtrack. Tragic Herois in full form being a lyrical ninja on each track.
3. WHATUPRG — New Hollywood
WHATUPRRG spares no expense in cinematic sound when cultivating this album. Truthfully speaking, I have already written about this album two or three times on previous blogs. I really don't have anything new to say. Just listen to the intro of this record...
4. Social Club Misfits-The Misadventures of Marty and Fern
Never not the type to experiment with other sounds, Social Club Misfits leaps with their signature of oddball charm and cautionary hood tales. Though they later admitted that some of the experiments did not work for this record, I think time has proven that this is a very forward-thinking piece of work.
5. Aklesso-My Life is a Beautiful Mess
Aklesso brings that Florida flavor in his pretty compelling and ambitious mix of bounce, synthwave and loverboy charm to his first full-length record. He exudes so much charisma. I think I actually listen to this by accident and I was amazed by how much I enjoyed it.
